This print was inspired by the 'iwa bird, which is known for being a "thief" in it's strategies for obtaining it's food. The epithet "Ka'iwakīloumoku" was awared to King Kamehameha 'Ekahi in recognition of his efforts to unify Hawai'i, which means "the 'iwa bird that hooks the islands together".
